I have a lot of life studies from my classroom days, about six and a half years' worth. Most of it is unfortunately on newsprint, which degrades over time. If you're in a class that draws on newsprint, take some advice from someone who's been there: Archive your work. Trust me, a few years down the line you'll be glad you did. Take a few hours out of every week, go down to Kinko's copies or the local equivalent, and make photocopies of the nicest stuff you did that week onto good, acid-free paper. It's usually just a few cents a copy, so this exercise shouldn't cost more than a dollar or so. Reducing 18" x 24" images to 8 1/2" x 11" isn't difficult (though it might take a little piecework if your local copy shop just has the regular machines). Make sure you note the date on each copy you make. Put 'em in a 3-ring binder. Besides the paper lasting longer, 3-ring binders take up a whole lot less room than those big newsprint pads. Ask me how I know. I'll try to note the medium and the length of the pose where I remember it. Almost all these drawings are originally 18" x 24", except where noted otherwise. |
