(Scroll down for more pictures) This is not a painting but an actual sculptural model. He stood nine feet tall and won first place in the Creatures and Models Competition at the 1999 Marin County Fair (which was judged by artists from Industrial Light and Magic's creature shop)! His construction was a group effort, but he was my design, and I helped build him. Someday I hope to build his brothers, the other two Sages of the Trine. Armature: PVC rod, football armor, lots of ductape and Emma's old hiking rig. Materials: Burlap, vinyl, other fabrics, liquid latex, polyurethane foam, porcupine quills, cotton batting, old socks, paint, plastics, bits of metal, Zoobs(tm), other stuff we had lying around or pulled out of the dumpster at the very last minute. Other members of the Ummu team: Emma and Sean. I've lost your contact info, guys. If you're out there, give me a holler! 5/24/01 - Scroll down. More pictures of Ummu-Toru may be found below. |
