Larry Niven's best alien Beastie, the Pierson's Puppeteer. One of my very favorite F&SF artists, Wayne Barlowe, did a full anatomical workup on the puppeteer in his book, Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials, but I did my best not to copy him (He gets very upset). Instead, I drew on Niven's numerous literary descriptions. These are just a few sketches of many. You can see another variant of the puppeteer in my Self-Portraits gallery. |
