Acrylic washes over monochrome, 18"x18". I don't know what it is about this one canvas, but it just won't photograph correctly. It's a darn shame, too, because the colors in the real painting are really lovely. Anyway, after spending about 36 hours in Photoshop diddling with the color, I just gave up and grayscaled it. It's still a great painting, but it's even better in color. This pic is set in the Age of Fishes, or course - Devonian period. The long line of critters behind the nautilus is a school of suspiciously modern-looking squid. In the middle distance you can see a Dinichthys, one of the big armored fishes, attacking them. Those are horseshoe crabs in the bottom left. I made up the armored fishes at bottom center, but with good reference, so I'm sure they look like something. Silhouetted at bottom right is a more primitive cephalopod, sort of a straight-shelled ammonite, trying to get a bite to eat.
