Selfportrait

For my Head and Hands 1 Class, 1997. Not the most flattering portrait I've ever done, but unflinchingly accurate. This was really a very fun process - I started by drawing directly over my reflection on the mirror, using a dry-erase marker. Then I copied that line onto the pastel paper, and carefully used the colored pencils to work in the cross-contours, checking the mirror every few minutes.
End result: Me. Colored pencils on neutral tone paper, 12" x 18"

If you think this is fun, I had to do muscle and skeletal overlays on vellum, too! (Ooh, now that's attractive!)

I got an "A" in the class, though.
